New Delhi, Delhi, India

About

The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), was established in 1984 to enhance school education through technology and mass media. The institute is a premier national body focused on the integration of audio, video, and digital media into the learning process. The primary mission of CIET is to design, develop, and disseminate high-quality educational e-content and alternative learning systems. It leverages platforms such as radio, television, films, and the PM eVIDYA DTH channels to broaden educational access and improve teaching methodologies for students and teachers across India. CIET engages in extensive research, training, and extension activities within educational technology. The institute trains educators in digital content creation, researches the effectiveness of educational media, and collaborates with State Institutes of Educational Technology (SIETs) to ensure a national reach. Key initiatives include developing content for DIKSHA and ePathshala, conducting online teacher training via the NISHTHA program, and fostering creativity through the All India Children's Educational eContent Competition (AICEeCC). As a key government body, CIET also plays a vital role in implementing the technological framework of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), ensuring that digital learning is a core component of modern education in India.
