e-Yantra, IIT Bombay

e-Yantra is a robotics and embedded systems outreach initiative hosted at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Bombay. Funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the project aims to create the next generation of embedded systems engineers with practical skills to solve real-world problems across domains including agriculture, disaster response, defense, manufacturing, and smart cities. The initiative emphasizes a learning-by-doing approach and project-based learning, bridging the gap between classroom theory and hands-on application. e-Yantra conducts multiple programs including the e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) for engineering students, the e-Yantra Innovation Challenge (eYIC), the e-Yantra School Robotics Competition (eYSRC) for school students, and the Virtual Museum Competition. e-Yantra has established robotics labs in over 500 colleges through its Lab Setup Initiative and has impacted more than 250,000 students across 3,250 colleges. The initiative has expanded internationally to ASEAN nations, BIMSTEC countries, Namibia, South Africa, and Bhutan.
