About

Hamsadhwani is a Chennai-based cultural association established in 1990 to promote classical performing arts. The organization focuses on encouraging the spread of music, dance, drama and other forms of performing arts among enthusiasts and aspiring artists. Founded by R. Ramachandran in the Adyar locality, Hamsadhwani serves as a hub for Carnatic music and classical arts in southern Chennai. The association organizes monthly programs, awards, and major annual festivals throughout the year. Flagship initiatives include the annual Margazhi Maha Utsavam during the December music season, the NRI Festival, and the Hamsadhwani Annual Music Competition for young Carnatic vocalists. The organization also presents recognitions such as the RRC Awards of Excellence and the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award.
