About

Hockey India is the sole national governing body for the sport of field hockey in India. The federation oversees men's and women's hockey across senior, junior, sub-junior and academy age groups, and is responsible for selecting and fielding national teams in international competitions. It is recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the Indian Olympic Association. The federation organises domestic championships, league formats and grassroots development programmes, and runs coaching, umpiring and technical official certification courses. Hockey India conducts annual national championships across age categories, including Senior, Junior and Sub Junior tournaments for both boys and girls. Member units are State Hockey Associations and Akademy Members affiliated to the federation. The federation has driven structured pathways from school and academy level to the senior national team, contributing to India's bronze medal performances at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
