The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is a distinguished National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai, India. Established in July 1974, HBCSE is dedicated to promoting equity and excellence in science and mathematics education from primary school to undergraduate college levels. The center conducts extensive research and development in science, technology, and mathematics education, develops educational materials, and offers teacher professional development programs. HBCSE is also India's nodal center for the Science and Mathematics Olympiad programs, which connect to international Olympiads in subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and junior science. The institution focuses on fostering scientific literacy and curiosity among students, teachers, and the wider community through various initiatives, including outreach programs, science exhibitions, and public lectures. HBCSE aims to enhance educational practices in the sciences and empower educators with essential pedagogical skills.
