About
The Indian Air Force Benevolent Association was established in 1940 as a self-administered welfare body of the Indian Air Force, registered under the Societies Registration Act (XXI) of 1860. It functions as the principal benevolent arm of the Air Force and works to relieve financial hardship and distress among serving, retired, and deceased Air Force personnel and their dependents through a structured set of welfare schemes. The Association administers educational scholarships, financial grants, medical assistance, and hardship relief for Air Force families. Its flagship educational programme is the Subroto Memorial Scholarship Scheme, which supports the academic progression of children of Air Force personnel from school through postgraduate studies. Other schemes provide loans and grants for medical treatment, housing distress, and family contingencies.
