About

Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) is a premier multi-arts centre established by the Government of Rajasthan in 1992 for the preservation and promotion of Indian art and culture. Designed by renowned architect Charles Correa, the building's layout mirrors Jaipur's historic grid plan and the Navagraha (nine-planet) concept, making it a landmark of heritage architecture in Rajasthan. The centre houses museums, galleries, an open-air amphitheatre, a closed auditorium, a library, art studios, and an artist hostel. It runs year-round programmes in performing arts, visual arts, literature, and folk culture, and is governed by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan. JKK is best known for its annual Junior Summer Camp — a multi-discipline arts programme for children aged 5-17 — as well as its major cultural festivals, theatre productions, music events, and heritage art exhibitions that make it a central hub for cultural life in Jaipur and Rajasthan.
