Karnataka Badminton Association (KBA)

Karnataka Badminton Association is the recognised state governing body for badminton in Karnataka, tracing its origins to 1950 when a group of badminton enthusiasts came together, with the Mysore State Badminton Association formally established on 20 May 1951. The association is affiliated to the Badminton Association of India and oversees the development, administration, and promotion of the sport across the state. The association conducts coaching camps, junior and state ranking tournaments spanning age categories from Under-11 to Under-19, and an annual residential summer coaching camp for rural players nominated by its affiliated District Badminton Associations. Its coaching program is led by Chief Coach Anup Sridhar, an Olympian and Arjuna Award recipient, who trains players from basic through professional levels. Karnataka Badminton Association operates one of Asia's larger dedicated badminton venues, with ten permanent courts and supporting sports and recreational facilities, and has hosted national and interstate championships on multiple occasions. The Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, a National Centre of Excellence, operates from the association's premises. In 2024, Karnataka's men's team, developed through the association's state pathway, won the Senior National Badminton Team Championship, ending a 47-year wait for the title. The association continues to identify and nurture young badminton talent across Karnataka's districts for competitive pathways at the state and national level.
