Kathak Kendra (National Institute of Kathak Dance)

Kathak Kendra is India's premier institution dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and systematic teaching of Kathak classical dance. Established as a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the institute has over 60 years of history and is closely associated with legendary Kathak masters including Pandit Shambhu Maharaj and Birju Maharaj. The institute offers multi-year structured programmes — Foundation Course, Diploma Pass Course, Diploma Honours, and Post Diploma — covering Kathak dance alongside supplementary training in Hindustani vocal music, Tabla, and Pakhawaj. Faculty are trained in the institute's own traditions and under some of India's most revered classical dance personalities. With centres in Chanakyapuri (main), North Delhi, and South Delhi, Kathak Kendra serves students from across India who aspire to pursue classical dance as a serious discipline. The institute grants nationally recognised certifications through the Sangeet Natak Akademi framework.
