About
Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM) is an autonomous body that designs and implements welfare programmes for the most vulnerable sections of society. The mission focuses on the protection and rehabilitation of orphaned children, persons with disabilities, the elderly, terminally ill patients and other groups requiring sustained state support. The mission runs flagship initiatives including Snehapoorvam for orphan children, Aswasakiranam for caregivers of bedridden patients, Cancer Suraksha for paediatric cancer treatment, Vayomithram for senior citizens and Thalolam for free treatment of children with critical illnesses. Schemes are delivered in partnership with the Social Welfare Department, Local Self Government Institutions and accredited hospitals. KSSM combines direct beneficiary scholarships, medical assistance and community-based rehabilitation with continuous research and monitoring. Eligible families apply through the Mission's E-Suraksha online portal and dedicated district-level officers, with funds disbursed directly to beneficiary bank accounts. The mission also undertakes capacity-building programmes, awareness drives and recruitment of trained social work professionals to expand its reach.
