About
The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, set up in 1992 to promote communal harmony, fraternity, and national integration. The Foundation works through awareness programmes, community engagement initiatives, and direct support to families affected by violence. A central focus of the Foundation is the rehabilitation of child victims of communal, caste, ethnic, and terrorist violence. Through its flagship Project Assist scheme, the Foundation provides regular financial assistance for the care, education, and training of children who have lost a parent or earning member due to such incidents. The scheme operates in coordination with state governments and District Social Welfare Officers. In addition to direct assistance, the Foundation organises programmes such as Communal Harmony Campaign Week and the Know My India initiative, where past victims of violence and youth from across the country participate in workshops aimed at building cross-cultural understanding and resilience.
