Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre

Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre is an elite hockey training institute that identifies, develops and grooms talented young hockey players from across India into future national and international athletes. The centre operates as an autonomous body run jointly by Tata Steel, Tata Trusts (Hockey Ace Foundation), the Government of Odisha and Odisha State Hockey. The centre admits cadets selected through state and national talent scouting trials and houses them in a fully residential setup that combines structured hockey coaching with continuing formal education. Boys and girls are trained in equal numbers, with the residential cohort having grown to ninety cadets after the inauguration of the new HPC building in 2023. Training is delivered by professional coaches and supported by sports science partners including STATSports for GPS-based performance tracking, Teamworks for athlete management, and Nudge Sports for sports psychology. The programme covers technical, tactical, physical and psychological development of every cadet. The centre also runs grassroot tournaments and feeder activity in the U-14 age category and contributes players to senior tournaments such as the Balwant Singh Kapur Memorial Hockey Tournament, building a clear pathway from grassroots to elite hockey.
