Population Connection (Population Education)

Population Education is a key program of Population Connection, a US-based non-profit organization. It is dedicated to providing K-12 educators with resources and professional development to teach about human population trends and their effects on the environment and human well-being. Established in 1968 as Zero Population Growth (ZPG), the organization provides teacher-tested, hands-on lesson plans and curriculum materials. Many of these resources are available at no cost, making them accessible to educators globally, including a growing network in India. One of its flagship initiatives is the "World of 8 Billion" student video contest. This global competition encourages middle and high school students to create short videos exploring the impact of population growth on various global challenges, offering a platform for young Indian minds to engage with international issues. With over five decades of experience, Population Connection has become the largest grassroots population organization in the United States. Its core mission is to foster a sustainable balance between people and the planet's resources by addressing demography, health, and sustainable development.
