The Concord Review (TCR)

The Concord Review, Inc. publishes the academic history research papers of secondary school students, and is the only quarterly journal in the world that does so. It was founded in March 1987 by Will Fitzhugh to recognize and publish exemplary history essays by high school students in the English-speaking world. The organization operates as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Its stated purpose is to hold secondary students to serious academic writing standards and to give strong student historians a genuine scholarly audience, and its editorial selection is deliberately demanding, with roughly five percent of submitted essays reaching print. Alongside the quarterly journal, The Concord Review runs the Emerson Prize and the Fitzhugh Prize for its published authors, the National Writing Board essay assessment service, the TCR History Camp, the TCR Institute, and the TCR Academic Coaches program. More than 1,500 research papers have been published since the first issue, written by authors drawn from 46 U.S. states and 46 other countries, and the journal reaches student, teacher and librarian subscribers across dozens of countries.
