About
The Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is a state-level statutory tripartite welfare board constituted in 2009 under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. The Board operates under the administrative control of the Department of Labour, Government of Uttar Pradesh. The Board's mandate is to provide social and economic security including education, health, maternity, disability, pension, marriage, and residential schooling to construction workers registered with it. Funding comes from the BOCW Welfare Cess collected at one per cent of construction project cost under the BOCW Welfare Cess Act, 1996. Key welfare schemes include the Sant Ravidas Shiksha Protsahan Yojana for children's education, the Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya Yojana for residential schooling, the Matritva Shishu evam Balika Madad Yojana for maternity and girl child support, the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana for daughter's marriage, the Mahatma Gandhi Pension Yojana, the Gambhir Bimari Sahayata Yojana for serious illness, and disaster and disability assistance schemes. The Board headquarters is in Lucknow at Kisan Mandi Bhawan, Vibhuti Khand, Gomti Nagar.
