About This Opportunity
The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) is a voluntary, non-political educational movement dedicated to the holistic development of young people in India. It aims to help individuals achieve their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual potential, preparing them to be responsible citizens and active members of their local, national, and international communities. The program emphasizes 'learning by doing' through practical activities, fostering self-reliance and character building.
BSG offers a progressive program structured into different sections based on age: Bunnies (3-5 years), Cubs/Bulbuls (6-10 years), Scouts/Guides (11-17 years), and Rovers/Rangers (18-25 years). Each section has age-appropriate activities and advancement stages, including Pravesh, Pratham Sopan, Dwitiya Sopan, and Tritiya Sopan, leading to state and national level awards like the Rajya Puraskar and Rashtrapati Award.
Participants gain a wide range of skills, including survival techniques, group cooperation, discipline, and comradeship through activities like camping, hiking, social service, and community development projects. The movement instills values based on the Scout Promise and Law, promoting loyalty, patriotism, and thoughtfulness for others. BSG also organizes adventure programs for members aged 12 to 45 years, focusing on activities like trekking and high rope courses at their National Adventure Institutes.
This program is recognized by the Government of India as the apex body for scouting and guiding in the country, providing a structured framework for youth development. It offers a unique blend of formal and non-formal education, preparing youth for future challenges and fostering a sense of national integration and global understanding.
