Animal Aid Unlimited Teen Volunteer Programme at Udaipur Animal Hospital and Sanctuary

Animal Aid Unlimited runs a supervised volunteering programme at its street animal hospital and sanctuary in Udaipur, where teenagers aged 14 to 18 years may take part alongside a parent or guardian.

Volunteers spend their time with the sanctuary animals rather than in clinical areas. Typical activities include socialising with disabled sanctuary dogs, bottle feeding orphaned calves, brushing donkeys, assisting with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, and bathing dogs and buffaloes. A volunteer coordinator is present throughout and sets each person a schedule suited to their experience level.

Every volunteer begins with a 40-minute guided tour of the rescue, hospital and sanctuary areas, followed by a safety and activities orientation. The sanctuary houses more than 300 animals, many of them permanently disabled, blind, elderly or orphaned. Volunteers should expect to see animals at every stage of recovery, including recent arrivals with untreated injuries.

Participation is free and runs year round on a walk-in basis with no minimum commitment. Rabies vaccination is advised at least one month before arrival, and volunteers who are fully vaccinated and stay two weeks or longer may also assist with dogs recently brought in for treatment.
