Bharatkalanjali Part-Time Bharatanatyam Basic Course

Bharatkalanjali's Part-Time Bharatanatyam Basic Course provides a structured entry point into classical Bharatanatyam for students who wish to pursue the art form alongside other activities. Classes are held twice a week at the institution's premises in Adyar, Chennai, making the programme accessible for school-going children and students managing academic commitments.

The basic course is taught by faculty trained in the Bharatanatyam tradition upheld by Priyadarsini Govind, one of India's most respected exponents of the art form and a Padma Bhushan awardee. The curriculum covers foundational Adavus, basic Hasta Mudras, introductory Alaripu, and rhythmic exercises that form the bedrock of classical Bharatanatyam technique.

Students receive rigorous foundational training with careful attention to posture, footwork, and coordination. Regular internal assessments and performance opportunities — including institution recitals — help students develop confidence alongside technical competence. Students who complete the basic course and demonstrate commitment may progress to more intensive training tracks at the institution.
