About this opportunity

The CBSE Merit Scholarship for SC/ST Students is a merit-based scholarship offered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to support meritorious students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. The scheme recognises academic excellence and aims to encourage SC and ST students to pursue higher education with financial support.

The scholarship is awarded to students who have scored 85 per cent or more in CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 board examinations and are continuing in a CBSE-affiliated school for Class 11 to 12 or pursuing undergraduate education. A total of 50 scholarships are awarded each year for both Class 10 and Class 12 students, with 33 reserved for SC and 17 for ST candidates in each category.

The scholarship amount is Rs. 12,000 per year payable for the entire duration of the scholarship to support educational expenses. Selected students must continue meeting academic performance criteria for renewal each year. Schools nominate eligible students through the CBSE scholarship portal with required documents including caste certificate, marksheets, Aadhaar, and bank passbook.

Disbursement is via direct bank transfer through the CBSE scholarship management system. The scholarship recognises both academic merit and the need to support SC and ST students in continuing education at CBSE-affiliated institutions.
