About this opportunity

The CBSE National Carrom Championship is a board-level carrom competition for students of CBSE-affiliated schools, conducted directly at the national level in separate Boys and Girls sections.

The championship is held in the Under-19 age category and includes both a Team Championship and an Individual Championship. Teams field up to four players, with ties decided over simultaneous singles matches, while the individual event is a knock-out for which each national team may sponsor two players. Matches follow the Laws of Carrom as adopted by the All India Carrom Federation.

Play is conducted on approved carrom boards with standard strikers and coins, under set, points and time-limit rules, with extended sets for the semi-finals and finals. Winning teams and individual champions receive merit certificates and medals, and all participating teams receive certificates.

Rounds and format

The Team Championship is played as a league-cum-knock-out, with each tie decided over the best of three simultaneous singles matches; the semi-finals and finals are extended to the best of six sets. The Individual Championship is a knock-out for boys and girls. Results are decided by points under the Laws of Carrom.

How entries are judged

Matches are decided by carrom points under the Laws of Carrom, with set, board and time limits and tie-break rules applied as needed.

Selection process

Schools register and select their students; entries to the national championship are accepted on a first-come basis up to the team cap, and each national team may sponsor two players for the Individual Championship.
