About this opportunity

Gandharva Mahavidyalaya New Delhi offers structured, multi-year training in Hindustani classical music for students aged 11 and above. The curriculum follows the graded syllabi of the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai, taking students from Prarambhik through Madhyama Purna and onward.

Subjects offered include Hindustani classical vocal (with separate children's, girls', and boys' batches), sitar, flute, tabla, and harmonium. Each student is expected to specialise in one subject and progress through the level-based certification path.

Classes are held three days a week. Children's vocal sessions run for 45 minutes per session, while all other classes run for one hour per session. Most learners commit to several years of consistent training before reaching higher certification levels.

The institution awards student certificates only after the completion of two years of training. Examinations conducted by ABGMVM are widely recognised across India and qualifications are treated as equivalent from matriculation through master's-level music study by the Mandal's network of nearly 1,200 affiliated institutions.
