About This Opportunity

Girls for Gold is a flagship scholarship and athlete development programme launched in 2023 by GoSports Foundation in collaboration with Infosys Foundation. The programme is designed to identify and nurture junior and emerging women athletes from India who show the potential to compete on the international stage. It builds a holistic ecosystem combining scholarships, expert coaching, qualified support staff and tech-enabled training facilities at partner academies.

The programme runs an initial four-year cycle and currently supports women athletes aged 13 to 19 across six sporting disciplines: shooting, boxing, weightlifting, table tennis, badminton and athletics. Selected athletes train at a curated network of high-performance academies, including Lakshya Shooting Club in Mumbai, Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation in Imphal, Sathish Sivalingam Weightlifting Foundation in Vellore, Raman TT High-Performance Centre in Chennai, Yadav Pro Badminton Academy in Bengaluru and the Usha School of Athletics.

Beyond financial support, the programme follows a three-pronged approach. It develops cohorts of internationally competitive women athletes who can act as future role models, builds a pipeline of qualified women coaches and support staff, and ensures access to world-class training infrastructure. Athletes also receive guidance on nutrition, injury management, sports psychology and competition exposure.

The initiative is positioned as a long-term pathway rather than a one-off grant. Selection is academy-led: partner academies nominate promising junior women athletes already training within their high-performance pipelines, who are then inducted into the Girls for Gold cohort following review by GoSports Foundation and Infosys Foundation.
