About this opportunity
The Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park is the palaeontology section of Indroda Nature Park in Gandhinagar, run by the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research (GEER) Foundation. It displays fossilised dinosaur eggs, fossil trackways and life-size dinosaur models in an open-air setting.
The fossils on display were recovered from the fossil beds at Raiyoli near Balasinor in Mahisagar district, one of the richest dinosaur fossil sites in India. The section was originally set up with the Geological Survey of India and sits within a 428 hectare nature park that also holds a Central Zoo Authority recognised zoo, a botanical garden, an aviary and a snake park.
Visitors walk the fossil and dinosaur sections at their own pace and then continue through the wider park, which includes the skeletons of two blue whales, a dolphin and a dugong, a greenhouse with about 200 cactus species and around 250 medicinal plants, and an interpretation centre on the eastern Wilderness Park side of the Sabarmati.
The park is open every day except Monday and is priced as a low-cost day visit, with a concessional ticket for school and college students on an educational tour. Schools and colleges visiting for educational purposes are asked to submit an official letter with the list of students.

School and college students on an educational tour pay Rs 8. Vehicle parking is charged separately at Rs 15 for a two-wheeler, Rs 30 for a car and Rs 90 for a school or college bus. Camera charges are extra, from Rs 40 for amateur photography up to Rs 200 for a professional SLR. Tickets are bought at the counter on arrival and sales stop at closing time.
