About This Opportunity
The INSPIRE Internship Science Camp is a flagship initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, under the INSPIRE Scheme (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research). The camp is a five-day residential programme that brings together the brightest young science students with India's leading scientists and researchers.
It is designed for Class XI students from the science stream who are among the top 1% performers in their Class X board examinations, or who have qualified national-level exams such as NTSE, JEE Advanced, or earlier KVPY. The camps are hosted by universities, IISERs, and national research laboratories across India.
Participants attend inspirational lectures by Nobel laureates, Bhatnagar awardees, Fellows of national academies, and other distinguished scientists. The programme also includes hands-on laboratory experiments, visits to research facilities, and interactive sessions that encourage scientific temper and research orientation.
The camp aims to attract talented students towards careers in basic and natural sciences. Selected interns receive boarding, lodging, and a participation certificate from DST, and become eligible to apply for the INSPIRE-SHE scholarship for higher studies in science.
