About this opportunity

The Junior (U-17) Boys & Girls National Boxing Championship is an annual national-level competition organized by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). It brings together state association boxers in the Junior age band to compete across multiple weight categories and serves as a key talent identification event in the BFI age-group pyramid that runs from Sub-Junior (U-15) through Junior (U-17), Youth (U-19) and Elite divisions.

Participation is restricted to boys and girls who fall within the BFI Junior age band (15-16 years by year of birth). Entries are routed through the affiliated state boxing associations, signed by the President or Secretary of the state unit, and supported by the boxer's BFI registration number. Entrants must produce original birth certificate, Aadhaar card, Record Book, recent Hepatitis B, C and HIV test certificate, and the BFI annual medical fitness certificate at initial weigh-in and medical examination, alongside age verification reports as per NCAFS norms. Daily weigh-ins and medical examinations are held at the venue.

Bouts run under World Boxing technical rules with a 10-point scoring system. Boys compete across 13 weight categories spanning 46 kg through +80 kg, including 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80 and +80 kg. Girls compete across a parallel set of 13 weight categories in the same Junior age band. Only one boxer is permitted per weight class per state, with no reserves.
