About this opportunity
The National School Games Athletics U-17 Championship is the highest-level inter-state athletics competition for school students in the U-17 age category in India. State and union territory teams selected through their State School Games Federations compete across track and field disciplines including sprints, middle-distance, long-distance, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throws.
Participation is open to bona fide school students born on or after 01.01.2009 who are nominated by their respective State School Games Federations. Entries are routed through state federations and not directly by individual schools or students. Each team brings managers, coaches, and an officials contingent in addition to athletes.
The championship offers a national-level competitive stage, ranking-based medals, participation certificates, and a pathway for selection into India squads for international school sport events conducted under the International School Sport Federation. Top performers also earn recognition that supports admission and sports-quota benefits at higher educational institutions.
Selection process
State School Games Federation nominations based on district and state-level trial performances
