About this opportunity
The U-14 age group of the National School Games Thang-Ta championship is entered, played and medalled on its own. SGFI sets this group as Mini, for players below 14 years of age counted from 31 December of the competition year.
Entry is not something a family files. The SGFI affiliated unit of the state or union territory selects the squad through school, district and state level meets and submits the online entry. A player may enter a discipline through only one age group in a calendar year, so this group is a closed field of its own.
The championship is contested in both the fighting events and the individual performance events. Each bout is fought over two rounds of three minutes with a one minute interval on a circular matted arena, on a knockout draw towards the medal rounds. A tied bout is settled first on warnings issued, then by a one minute extra round, and finally by a toss taken with the consent of both players.

Bona fide regular student of a recognised school or junior college, studying in Class 6 or above.

How entries are judged
In Phunaba Ama a strike above the upper belt scores plus one, dropping the Chungoi shield or the Phunachei costs three each, and stepping outside the arena outline costs one. Phunaba Anishuba adds plus two for a kick above the upper belt and plus two for cutting the opponent leg while being kicked, and a player may strike at most three targets in an exchange. The higher score wins, and on equal scores the player who was warned is defeated. The individual Kanglon Chatpa events are judged on posture, movement, power, rhythm, speed, balance, breathing and the correct point of blow or defence.
Selection process
The SGFI affiliated unit of the state or union territory selects the U-14 squad through school, district and state level meets and enters it. Inside the championship, medals are decided within the age group, separately for boys and girls.

Fee details
Certificate & Identity Card fees: @ Rs. 130/- per player in cash shall be submitted to the S.G.F.I. representative by the participating team at the arrival at the venue of tournament.
