About this opportunity

The Gymnastics component of the National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC) Scheme of the Sports Authority of India identifies and nurtures gymnastics talent in the 8 to 14 years age group studying in adopted schools across India. Schools with strong sports infrastructure and a track record in gymnastics are adopted by SAI, and selected trainees continue their academic studies and gymnastics training in the same institution under scientific coaching and structured programmes.

Eligible children are 8 to 14 years of age and enrolled in a SAI adopted school, with preference to those who have shown aptitude in gymnastics or medalled at district level or participated at state level. Selection is conducted by a committee comprising SAI officials, school representatives, SAI coaches, and sports scientists through a battery of physical and medical fitness tests.

Selected trainees receive a monthly stipend, an annual sports kit, competition exposure support, and accidental insurance cover, along with access to qualified SAI gymnastics coaches and sports science support. Adopted schools receive gymnastics equipment and infrastructure assistance to deliver structured training.

Trainees are admitted on a non-residential basis, with boarding and lodging provided in place of stipend at select schools where residential intake has been approved. Continuation in the scheme is subject to periodic performance review by SAI.
