About This Opportunity
The Vacation Creative Science Workshops at Nehru Science Centre Mumbai are hands-on science programmes conducted during school summer and winter vacations. School students participate in short discipline-based courses that introduce contemporary technology themes alongside classical experimental science, allowing children to learn by building, tinkering and testing rather than by passive listening.
Workshop disciplines have included robotics and coding, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, drones, digital design, aeromodelling, electronics, astronomy and craft-based science activities. Sessions are run by the centre's education staff and resource persons inside the Innovation Hub Tech Lab and dedicated workshop classrooms, which provide tools, kits and components for the projects. Children typically work in small batches with structured daily activities, mini-projects and demonstrations.
The Innovation Hub additionally hosts Tod Fod Jod, where students disassemble and reassemble gadgets, and Kabad Se Jugad, where low-cost materials are used to build working models. These programmes encourage curiosity, scientific reasoning and engineering thinking in a museum environment rich with reference exhibits.
Workshops are offered as in-person sessions at the Worli campus and have also been offered online in earlier seasons. Each workshop concludes with the student keeping the project or model they have built, along with a participation certificate issued by the centre.
