About this opportunity

Kala Kamp is the Art of Living's online fine art camp, where learners aged eight and above study a traditional Indian painting form live over five short evening sessions with a practising artist.

Each edition offers a set of separate five-day workshops, so a learner picks the form they want rather than following a fixed syllabus. Styles covered include Warli, Madhubani, Kalighat, Gond, Thangka, Kolam and Alpana, Tholu Bommalata leather puppetry, Mandala work and a watercolour flower series, along with an intermediate Warli module for those who want to go further.

The camp is run by the World Forum for Art and Culture, the cultural wing of the Art of Living, and has been held every year since 2021. Sessions are taught live and attendance is required, since recordings are not shared afterwards. Participants arrange their own art materials from a reference list circulated before class, and complete beginners are welcome alongside experienced artists.
