About This Opportunity
Photography is one of the established creative activity units at National Bal Bhavan, the Government of India institution for children's creativity in New Delhi. It is open to enrolled members and runs through the year rather than as a one-time event.
The activity covers both still photography and videography, taking children through camera handling and functions, focusing and exposure, and the selection and use of film and filters. Learners also work in the darkroom on film processing, contact sheets and enlargement.
Beyond technique, the unit develops composition, subject selection and framing, and guides children to mount and display their work, culminating in complete photo exhibitions. Video scripting, shooting, editing, sound and audio-visual presentation are also covered.
Field excursions form a regular part of the activity, giving young photographers the chance to practise outdoors. The programme aims to introduce photography and videography as creative pursuits and potential vocations for children.
