National Bal Bhavan

National Bal Bhavan is an autonomous body under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institution provides children aged 5 to 16 with structured opportunities for creative pursuits, scientific exploration and cultural expression outside the formal school system. Activities span Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Science, Heritage Crafts, Sports and Museum studies. The institution runs year-round membership programmes alongside seasonal initiatives such as the annual Summer Fiesta, and coordinates a national network of affiliated State and District Bal Bhavans. The Bal Shree Scheme administered by the institution identifies and honours children showing exceptional creative talent across Creative Performance, Creative Art, Creative Writing and Creative Scientific Innovation streams. Membership is offered at a nominal annual fee, with full fee waivers for children from EWS, SC, ST and Divyang categories to ensure equitable access.
