About This Opportunity
The Scholarship for Differently Abled Students from Class 9 Onwards is a state government scheme implemented by the Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled, Government of Tamil Nadu. It provides annual financial assistance to students with at least forty percent benchmark disability to support continuation of education from secondary school through postgraduate and professional courses.
The scholarship is open to differently abled students who are domiciled in Tamil Nadu and studying in Class 9 or above in recognised schools, colleges, or vocational and professional institutions within the state. Applicants must hold a valid disability certificate or UDID card and must have secured a minimum of forty percent marks in the previous qualifying examination. Both school and higher education learners pursuing degree, postgraduate, medical, engineering, vocational, or professional courses can apply.
Selected students receive an annual scholarship paid through the District Differently Abled Welfare Office. The amount is four thousand rupees per year for students in Classes 9 to 12, six thousand rupees per year for undergraduate degree courses, and seven thousand rupees per year for postgraduate, medical, engineering, vocational, and professional courses. The financial support helps cover tuition, books, study materials, and related educational expenses.
Applications are submitted through the concerned District Differently Abled Welfare Office along with the disability certificate, mark sheet of the previous examination, proof of admission, residence proof, and bank account details. The scheme is renewable each academic year subject to continued enrolment and satisfactory academic performance.
