About This Opportunity
The Science Over Weekends (SOW) is an annual educational program organized by the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium (JNP) in Bengaluru. This program provides high school students with a unique opportunity to explore specific science topics in depth through interactive sessions, discussions, demonstrations, and problem-solving activities. The primary goal is to foster a deeper understanding of scientific concepts beyond the regular school curriculum and cultivate a scientific attitude.
This program is specifically designed for high school students in classes 8 to 12, typically aged 13 to 18, who demonstrate a keen interest and aptitude in Science and Mathematics. It is not intended as a tutorial for competitive exams but rather aims to develop a research-oriented mindset and enhance critical thinking skills. Participants should be able to attend the sessions in Bengaluru.
Participants will significantly enhance their logical thinking and problem-solving abilities through hands-on learning and rigorous discussions. The program provides a strong foundation in scientific principles, offers exposure to various scientific phenomena, and encourages inquiry-based learning. A certificate of participation is provided by the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.
Sessions are conveniently held on Sundays, allowing students to participate without disrupting their regular school schedules. The curriculum covers topics prescribed in the high school science syllabus, expanding on them with greater depth and practical application to ensure relevance and advanced learning.
