Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru is a leading institution dedicated to popularizing science and providing non-formal science education. Established in 1989 by the Bangalore City Corporation, it is now administered by the Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE). The planetarium aims to foster an understanding of astronomy and space science among students and the general public. The institution features a state-of-the-art Sky Theatre with a 15-meter dome and a hybrid projection system, offering immersive shows on various astronomical topics. It also houses an exhibition hall with interactive displays and a Science Park with over 40 exhibits, making learning engaging and experiential. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium regularly hosts educational programs, workshops for children and students, and special lectures by scientists.
