About This Opportunity
The Sub-Junior National Boxing Championships, organized by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), is a premier national-level competition for young boxers across India. This championship aims to identify and nurture grassroots boxing talent, providing a crucial platform for aspiring athletes to compete and gain experience at a national level. It is a significant event in the Indian boxing calendar, contributing to the development of future champions.
Boxers aged 13 to 14 years are eligible to participate in this championship. Participants must adhere to specific age verification norms and submit necessary documents like original birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, and age estimation certificates as per SAI norms. Medal winners from the REC Combined Talent Hunt are also eligible to compete, making the competition highly competitive.
Participants gain invaluable competitive experience and national recognition. Top performers have the opportunity to be identified for further training and potential induction into national coaching camps and schemes like Khelo India. This championship serves as a stepping stone for young boxers to advance their careers in the sport and represent India at international events.
The championship follows World Boxing technical rules, with bouts consisting of three rounds of 1.5 minutes each, and a one-minute rest between rounds. Free lodging and boarding are often provided to all boxers and officials by the organizers, ensuring a supportive environment for young athletes.
