About this opportunity
Tide Turners Plastic Challenge India is a UNEP youth movement that guides students and young people aged 11 to 35 through a three-level journey to reduce single-use plastic pollution, coordinated nationally by the Centre for Environment Education and WWF-India.
Participants progress from the Entry level, where they study the Tide Turners toolkit and take a plastic literacy test, to the Leader level, where they survey stakeholders and run awareness sessions in their school or community, and finally to the Champion level, where they lead clean-up drives, single-use plastic bans, or advocacy campaigns with local institutions and businesses. Registration is open to individuals, school and youth groups of five or more, National Cadet Corps units, and special category groups working with marginalized and indigenous communities.
The challenge operates through India's National Green Corps Eco Club network under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and has engaged over half a million youth across the country since its 2019 launch. Each level completion earns a digital badge and e-certificate, with standout Champion projects featured at the annual National Youth Summit held around World Environment Day.
