About This Opportunity

The Indian Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IMMC) is India's official national qualifying competition for the International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM2C), an annual contest co-sponsored by COMAP and the NeoUnion ESC Organization. The contest invites school student teams to model and solve real-world problems within a constrained timeframe, producing a written solution paper that demonstrates their reasoning, mathematics, and recommendations.

Participation is team-based with all members from the same school. Students enrolled in Grades 7 to 12 or pre-university students are eligible. Each team chooses one open-ended modeling problem and submits a structured solution paper within the contest window, typically running from February through late April with an India registration deadline at the end of March.

The top two performing Indian teams are selected as India Team A and India Team B and represent India at the International Mathematical Modeling Challenge, where they compete alongside national teams from participating countries worldwide. IMMC India provides one of the few national-stage opportunities for school students to experience research-style applied mathematics and a verifiable international pathway through the IM2C.
