About This Opportunity
The SBKK Bharatanatyam Foundation Course is a two-year elementary programme conducted at Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra's College of Music and Dance in New Delhi. The programme introduces young learners to the foundational techniques and theoretical principles of Bharatanatyam, the classical dance form of Tamil Nadu.
The course is open to children with a minimum age of 8 years. Selection for admission is conducted through an audition and personal interview held at the Kendra's campus on Copernicus Marg.
Students progress through structured training in adavus, basic nritta, abhinaya, and music theory associated with Bharatanatyam. The Foundation course forms the entry stage of an eight-year continuum that progresses through Intermediate and Advanced levels for learners pursuing serious classical dance studies.
Teaching takes place in person at the Kendra under faculty trained in the traditional guru-shishya method. The programme is part of SBKK's broader curriculum that also includes Kathak, Odissi, Mayurbhanj Chhau, and Hindustani classical music.
