About this opportunity
The Gurukul Anubhav Scholarship offers students a unique 30-day residential experience with an accomplished maestro in classical music, classical dance, yoga, or spiritual practice. Selected students live with the guru, observe their daily discipline, and absorb the values of India's Guru-Shishya Parampara — the traditional master-disciple relationship. The programme has run continuously since 1986.
The scholarship is open to students aged 13 to 26 from across India, irrespective of religion, region, or prior training in the arts. Selection is based on application review followed by an interview at designated centres. Final placement with a specific guru is decided by the SPIC MACAY panel based on application quality and interview performance.
Selected scholars receive AC 3-tier railway fare reimbursement for travel to and from the guru's residence. A refundable security deposit of Rs. 5,000 is collected before the stay commences and returned after successful completion. Scholars complete the full 30-day stay during summer months and submit a reflective written report within four weeks of return.
